Maria João Pires has ended her career as a performer

Maria João Pires

Lingotto Musica sadly learns about Maria João Pires‘ decision to end her career as a performer. This announcement marks the end of a career that has left an indelible mark in the history of piano interpretation.

She was the protagonist of two memorable concerts for Lingotto Musica: in 2001 with Chopin’s Concerto No. 2 alongside the Scottish Chamber Orchestra led by Emmanuel Krivine, and in 2015 with Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3 alongside the London Symphony Orchestra led by Daniel Harding. Maria João Pires was due to return to the Auditorium Agnelli on January 27 with the Camerata Salzburg.

In light of her decision, we are forced to temporarily suspend ticket sales for the concert, pending the confirmation of a replacement performer and any changes to the programme.

All tickets and season tickets already purchased remain valid.

Updates will comes as soon as definitive informations will be available.
