Louis Lortie in recital at the Teatro Splendor

Louis Lortie

As part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, the Resistance, and the Autonomy of the Aosta Valley, Lingotto Musica, on behalf of the Aosta Valley Regional Council, is presenting the concert “Sette settembre. Note per ricordare“. The event will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 6:00 PM, at the Teatro Splendor in Aosta. The renowned French-Canadian pianist Louis Lortie will be on stage.

The event pays tribute to the 80th anniversary of Lieutenant-General Decrees No. 545 and No. 546, which were issued on September 7, 1945. These decrees recognized the Aosta Valley’s unique historical and cultural identity and established its first form of institutional autonomy.

The evening’s program will offer a complete immersion into the poetic universe of Fryderyk Chopin, a composer whose music symbolizes a deep love for his homeland. The performance will range from the lively and brilliant Andante spianato, Grande Polonaise brillante Op. 22, and Polonaise-Fantaisie Op. 61 to the poignant lyricism of the 2 Nocturnes Op. 55, concluding with the more intimate and nostalgic notes of the 4 Mazurkas Op. 24.

A sought-after artist on five continents for over thirty years, Louis Lortie won first prize at the Busoni Competition and fourth prize at the Leeds Competition in 1984. The French-Canadian pianist has since performed with the most prestigious orchestras and in the world’s major concert halls. A prolific artist, he has recorded over 45 albums for the Chandos Records label, featuring cornerstones of the piano repertoire. A Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec, he is also the co-founder and artistic director of the LacMus International Festival on Lake Como.

Admission to the concert is free, but booking is required on Eventbrite.
