Anne-Sophie Mutter is a living legend violinist, simply one of the most famous and celebred musicians of our time. Herbert von Karajan discovered her talent in 1976 when she was only 13 years old and brought her to the stage beside Berliner Philharmoniker. With Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Vasily Petrenko on his return at Lingotto 15 years after his last appearance, Mutter debuts at Giovanni Agnelli Auditorium playing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61, the unique violin concerto of his career. Season 2025-2026 of Concerti del Lingotto series ends with Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, a piece which describes the interior drama of human ego and wild forces that pass through it.
The concert is preceded, at 6:30 PM at Sala Londra, by an introductory lecture about Mahler’s Fifth Symphony given by musicologist and music critic Attilio Piovano (free admission).
