On Monday, May 10, Marc Minkowski and Les Musiciens du Louvre return to Lingotto to close the season with the vibrant energy of Mendelssohn. Founded in 1982 to champion French Baroque on period instruments, the ensemble has since expanded its repertoire into the Classical and Romantic eras, maintaining its signature philological rigor. The program features Mendelssohn’s “twin” symphonies, the “Scottish” and the “Italian.” Both works were inspired by the composer’s youthful travels across Europe, brilliantly evoking landscapes and atmospheres with a characteristic sense of Romantic wonder.
