Making its debut at the Auditorium Agnelli, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra boasts a prestigious history dating back to 1901, including its regular role accompanying the finalists of the Chopin Competition. Since 2024, the orchestra has been led by Music Director Krzysztof Urbański. The program on Thursday, March 18, opens with Grażyna Bacewicz’s Scherzo, in an orchestral transcription by Urbański himself. It continues with Elgar’s Cello Concerto, a deeply meditative and melancholic masterpiece performed by acclaimed cellist Kian Soltani. A former principal of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and a Deutsche Grammophon artist, Soltani also makes his Lingotto Musica debut. The evening culminates with one of the most beloved works in the symphonic repertoire: Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.”
