Winner of seven\u00a0Gramophone Awards<\/strong> e nominated for eleven Grammys<\/strong>, over the past thirty years he has performed in the most prestigious concert halls worldwide and with the greatest orchestras. New York Times called him \u00aba pianist of masterful elegance, energy, and introspection\u00bb, Wall Street Journal \u00abone of the most talented musicians of his generation\u00bb. The acclaimed Norwegian virtuoso Leif Ove Andsnes<\/strong><\/a> is the protagonist of the third concert of the Pianisti del Lingotto<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>series at\u00a0Sala 500<\/strong> on\u00a0Tuesday, February 7th<\/sup><\/strong>, 8.30 PM. Already five time Lingotto Musica\u2019s guest, between 2004 and 2019, Andsnes pays tribute to his compatriot Grieg with his youthful Piano Sonata in E minor, Op. 7. The program also includes the Bohemian melodies from Jan\u00e1\u010dek\u2019s cycle\u00a0On an Overgrown Path<\/em> VIII\/17 and the beloved Chopin of the famous 24 Preludes op. 28.<\/p>\n

After performing Grieg\u2019s Piano Concerto in A minor<\/em> in 2019, Leif Ove Andsnes returns in recital for the Pianisti del Lingotto\u00a0<\/em>series<\/h3>\n

Founding director of Rosendal Chamber Music Festival<\/strong>, Leif Ove Andsnes was co-artistic director of Ris\u00f8r Chamber Music Festival<\/strong> and served as music director of California\u2019s Ojai Music Festival<\/strong>. The youngest musician to curate Carnegie Hall\u2019s \u201cPerspectives,\u201d Andsnes was the subject of the London Symphony Orchestra\u2019s Artist Portrait Series. Having been Pianist-in-Residence of the Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic and Gothenburg Symphony, he achieved Royal Philharmonic Society\u2019s Instrumentalist Award, Gilmore Artist Award and was named one of the \u201cBest of the Best\u201d by Vanity Fair in 2005. As the Mahler Chamber Orchestra\u2019s first Artistic Partner, he has already led the ensemble from the keyboard in two major, multi-season projects, \u201cThe Beethoven Journey\u201d and \u201cMozart Momentum 1785\/86\u201d. His discography includes more than 70 albums, from Bach to the present day: his Grieg recordings have received critical acclaim as well as his works with Ian Bostridge, Matthias Goerne and Marc-Andr\u00e9 Hamelin.<\/p>\n

A mix between romantic Mid-Europe and deep North atmospheres through the works of Chopin, Grieg, and Jan\u00e1\u010dek<\/h3>\n

Leif Ove Andsnes opens the concert with Piano Sonata in E minor, Op. 7 <\/strong>by Edvard Grieg<\/strong>, his only piano sonata. This piece is dedicated to Niels Gade, the leading figure of Nordic school, but we can find Schubert e Schumann everywhere. On an Overgrown Path<\/em>\u00a0VIII\/17<\/strong>\u00a0by Leo\u0161 Jan\u00e1\u010dek <\/strong>is the second piece of the concert. The cycle is interwoven with Jen\u016ffa<\/em> and biographical facts about the czech composer: ten miniatures full of intensity and lyrical passages. The 24 Preludes, Op. 28<\/strong> by Fryderyk Chopin<\/strong> close the evening. Written in Majorca during the winter of 1838, they pay tribute to Bach\u2019s The Well-Tempered Clavier<\/em>.<\/p>\n
