In 1979 he founded the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, followed in 1992 by the Amsterdam Baroque Choir: with ABO&amp;C gained worldwide fame thanks to award-winning recording projects. As guest conductor he works with prestigious orchestras such as Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Leiden, Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music in London and Honorary Doctor in Linz and L\u00fcbeck. He was awarded the Bach Medal of the City of Leipzig and the Bach Prize of the Royal Academy of Music in London. Since 2019 he is President of the Leipzig Bach Archive. His impressive music library (10.000 books, 5.000 early editions and 400 manuscripts) proves his incredible lifelong artistic and scientific research.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The <em>Six Concertos for several instruments<\/em>, known as <em>Brandenburg Concertos<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Composed in 1721 and dedicated to Christian Ludwig von Brandenburg-Schwedt in 1724, Bach&#8217;s <em>Brandenburg Concertos<\/em> stand as a masterpiece, a synthesis of Baroque styles and influences. Each concerto features a unique instrumental combination, showcasing extraordinary diversity, from intricate counterpoint to the linear qualities of the vocal lines.
